MEI Language Lab

MEI operates a special computer lab just for MEI students. The lab is in Susquehanna (SQH), Room 3116. The computers have special software you can use for extra English practice:

  • Pronunciation software
  • Grammar software
  • Vocabulary software
  • Reading software
  • Video software

All computers have cameras and headphones and can be used with Skype or MSN.

University Computer Labs

The University of Maryland has computer labs all across campus. Both Windows and Mac computers are available. All computers have Microsoft Office software installed. Printer services are available in most computer labs.

University Media Center

As a student at MEI, you can borrow from a collection of films, documentaries, and TV programs that can help you:

University Health Center

The University Health Center is proud to be nationally accredited for over 25 years by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, an independent organization that only places its seal of approval on medical facilities that meet the highest standards of quality. Less than 10% of all college health centers in the U.S. are accredited!

Student Involvement

Performing Arts Center

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center opened in 2001. It presents dance, theater and musical performances. The center partners with the School of Music and the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies to offer performances, workshops, and other activities that help you dig deeper into the world of ideas.

Stamp Student Union

The Adele H. Stamp Student Union is the center for campus life.  You can find study spaces, entertainment places, and many other services:

Student Organizations

There are more than 800 student organizations at the University of Maryland, College Park. These clubs encompass a wide variety of interests and identities, such as religion, ethnicity, hobbies, sports, art, academics, etc. TerpLink allows you to view all student organizations and sign up for events.

Public Safety (Police)

The University of Maryland places tremendous importance on student safety as well as being prepared for emergencies. The University of Maryland Police Department (UMPD) is a professional law enforcement organization that employs over 100 dedicated men and women who are trained and ready to handle any campus situation.

Besides having a professional police department, the University of Maryland Department of Public Safety at College Park offers:

  • a 24-hour, 7-day per week walking escort service to any student who asks
  • a full service 911 Emergency Communications Center
  • a campus-wide lost and found service
  • emergency weather notifications
